Outdoor Adventure At Wild Blue Ropes In Charleston, SC

by Shakeima Chatman

Are you looking for a place to have some wild, outdoor fun right here in Charleston? In this episode of The North Chuck Hookup, we’re going to take you Wild Blue Ropes, the ultimate outdoor activity on James Island. We’ll talk with the owner, Hugh, to learn all about this amazing adventure spot right in our own backyard.

Fun And Adventure At Wild Blue Ropes

Hugh is the owner and operator of Wild Blue Ropes Adventure Park. He wanted to make the 72-obstacle high ropes course to provide outdoor adventure and family fun to the area. It’s a great way for both kids and adults to get off their screens and explore a challenging adventure outside.

Wild Blue Ropes has a variety of different courses for all ages and abilities. Kids from four years old and up brave the heights—and you don’t have to worry about falling. As Hugh tells us, you’re always connected to a safety wire, and you can never disconnect yourself when on the course.

That safety wire holds 14,972 pounds—which is about the equivalent of an elephant. So if you’re up in the trees and happen to slip or fall, all you’ll be doing is sitting in your harness. Hugh says they have a lot of people that do it on purpose, as it’s actually fun to fall

A Course For Every Level

There are many courses available at Wild Blue Ropes. One is on the ground, which is called the Ninja-Fit Course. It's very hard; if you've ever seen the show American Ninja Warrior, you’ll understand why. You have to swing through obstacles, traverse tricky steps, and much more.

Another course offered is the Explorer’s Gateway, a beginner course with 7 obstacles—and the original course Wild Blue Ropes opened up with. They also have their Challenge Course, which features 66 different obstacles and three difficulty levels.

The team at Wild Blue Ropes takes each person through Ground School, where they teach you how to use everything. On the Challenge Course, you can pick and choose where you want to go with each level indicating beginner, intermediate, and hard.

Traversing The Treetops

If you want to try a new adventure or embark on a challenge, Wild Blue Ropes is the place to be. Whether you want to walk in, make reservations, or plan a group event, Wild Blue Ropes can accommodate you. They even do a couples climb once or twice a month at night, field trips, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts events, and team building for companies, sports teams, and schools.

You can find this adventure park at 1595 Highland Avenue on James Island, with more information on their website.
