Living In Charleston Versus Living In Summerville, SC

Are you thinking about moving to the Charleston area and wonder what the difference is between Charleston and the suburbs? In this episode of The North Chuck Hookup, I’m going to show you exactly why Charleston and the suburbs of  Summerville are different. We’ll explore everything from the lifestyle to traffic so you can see which area is right for you. The Lifestyle If you're thinking about moving to Charleston and are debating between Charleston and Summerville, here are some things to think about. The first thing you should know is the difference between the lifestyles. Charleston is a very rich, historic town surrounded by six beautiful beaches. It’s also the number one place to travel to in the United States. On the other hand, Summerville is located 17 miles from Charleston. This quaint town features great restaurants and great schools. It’s also located near big companies like Mercedes, Boeing, and Volvo. Its central location is a better fit for someone who's looking for that suburban lifestyle. Socially, Charleston has great five-star restaurants, many bars, and lots of shopping. Like many suburban cities around the United States, Summerville has new development communities that offer resort-style living and beautiful gardens. Real Estate Next, let’s compare the real estate and see which city has the best bang for your buck. In general, Charleston is more expensive than Summerville. A three-bedroom, single-family home in Charleston costs around $845,000, while in Summerville it’s around $375,000. If you're looking to rent in the area, you can spend roughly around $3,500 a month for a single-family home in Charleston. In Summerville, expect to pay around $2,500 a month for a single-family home. A good rule of thumb is that it’s more expensive as you get closer to the beach. Because Summerville is 45 minutes from the beach, it's less expensive. Location And Traffic Now we’ll look at the overall difference between locations. You’re likely thinking about your work and what your commute might be like. Whether you live in Charleston or Summerville, you're about 25 minutes from the airport for each city. When it comes to traffic, Charleston tends to have more traffic because there are a lot of tourists and folks commuting into the city. On the other hand, traffic in Summerville is usually mild. However, due to one-lane roads during rush hour traffic, it can get a little hectic. If you're looking to be closer to the beach, Charleston is probably the better fit. If you're looking for that suburban feel, then Summerville may be better for you. Enjoy South Carolina Living I hope this gave you some great insight into living in Charleston versus Summerville here in South Carolina. We’ll explore everything from beaches to bugs so you know exactly what to expect. Why People Are Moving To Charleston Let’s look at some great things about living in Charleston and some not-so-great things. Living in Charleston has its pros and cons, just like every place. We're going to start by giving you the top reason people are moving to Charleston: our beaches.  Whether you're in Summerville, Moncks Corner, Mount Pleasant, or North Charleston, you're minutes away from miles of sandy beaches. From Isle of Palms, Sullivan’s Island, and Folly Beach to Mosquito Beach, you have plenty to choose from. Second, we have restaurants on every block that are guaranteed to fill your southern appetite. If you're visiting the West Ashley area, make sure to stop by Beare-E-Patch patch and try the Harbour Saute. Tell him Alicia sent you!  Lastly, people are moving to Charleston because of our climate. Our average temperature is about 97 degrees Fahrenheit for the summer and about 30 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter—perfect for running from those winter northern cells. The Cons Now that we know some of the pros, I’m going to give you the lowdown on some of the cons. If you're really serious about moving here, you're going to need to know some of these things. Con number one is our heat. While this is also a pro, Charleston’s humidity and our long summers can be difficult. You're going to have to know whether you can deal with the heat.  Con number two is our traffic. Yes, you are going to need to plan ahead. Make sure you plan an extra 15 minutes for commuting to and from work. Our last con is our bugs. Charleston is a warm climate, and we do have mosquitoes. Also, don't get too skittish if you’re get visited by one of our Palmetto bugs. Drinks And Tapas At Martini Me In North Charleston

Did you know that Charleston is home to a hip martini and tapas spot? In this episode of The North Chuck Hookup, I’m going to take you inside Martini Me, a relaxing martini bar with a cool vibe in North Charleston. We’ll chat with bartender Kimmy to learn about the drinks, tapas, and atmosphere that Martini Me offers. Welcome To Martini Me Located off of Ashley Phosphate, Martini me is one of the only martini bars in the Low Country. It recently opened to much acclaim, offering a unique experience for locals. Owner Shaunte, who used to day drink, was traveling and noticed that all the day drinking spots were martinis. She realized that North Charleston didn’t have that great martini spot and was inspired to open one of her own. Martini Me is not like most bars, where there’s a bunch of TVs with sports on all over the walls. The vibe is perfect for a girls’ night out, upscale social gatherings, or just an opportunity to kick back and relax. With delicious cocktails and tasty bites, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a day out. Drinks And Tapas As their name suggests, Martini Me offers a wide range of delicious martinis. Shaunte’s favorite is the Lemon Drop, while Kimmy’s favorite is the Porn Star. A rising flavor is the Watermelontini, which includes fresh watermelon, simple syrup, and house-made vodka. Make sure you pair your drink with one of Martini Me’s tasty bites, like the wings, charcuterie boards,  marinated olives, and shrimp. One of Kimmy’s favorites is the steak bites and house-made potatoes. The steak is to-die-for tender and comes with a delicious house-made gravy. Make It A Girl’s Day Out I hope this gave you a good idea of everything that Martini Me has to offer. Make sure to come by and check it out with your girlfriends to enjoy a delicious drink and some tasty tapas.
