Find The ONE | Finding The Perfect Home

Did you know that searching for a new home can kind of be like searching for a mate? In this video, Terri is going to give you a few ways you can know if you’ve found the perfect house for you. We’ll talk about everything from the builder to feeling at home so you have the best chance at choosing “The One.”   The Builder Finding a home is just like finding “The One.” From the length of a commitment and intimacy to accepting the good with the bad, there's a lot to consider. Thankfully, there are ways to know if you’ve found the right one—starting with good genes. In a house, we call that the builder. If you're buying a new home, knowing who originally built the house can tell you a lot about its quality. If the builder is reputable, you can trust that the house was built solidly. The Inspection Number two is physical fitness. You want to know that your house has been taking care of itself over the years (or that someone has been taking care of it). For this, you need to look past the cover page and dive deep into the bones of the home.  A qualified inspector will give you every detail about the property and let you know that what's behind the walls is in good shape. Third, honest is very important. You want to know if your home is hiding any details about the past. This includes subpar renovations, past water damage, or a dark past.  This is something that you're going to want to know before you commit. Again, your home inspector will shine a light on any skeletons that could be in a closet.  Feels Like Home Number four, you’ll know if the house is “The One” if it just feels like home. When you're with that special someone, it doesn't matter where you're at with them; it just feels like home. You should get that same feeling when you're inside your house. You want to get a sense of comfort, safety, and peace—the same feeling you will get when you're with your significant other. Finding The One Buying a home can be a lifelong commitment. You're going to get to know the home inside and out, and there will always be some ups and downs. With these tips, however, you can make a confident home choice. Exploring Charleston's Fastest Growing Neighborhood: The Ponds

Do you want to live in the best neighborhood in all of the Charleston Metro area? In this episode of The North Chuck Hookup, I’m going to give you the lowdown on The Ponds, one of the fastest-growing communities in Summerville. We’ll explore this neighborhood’s location, amenities, and home prices so you can get a good idea of what it’s all about. Welcome To The Ponds If you're thinking about moving to Charleston, South Carolina, you’ve probably looked around at some of the other cities in the area. If so, The Ponds is one neighborhood you’ll want to check out. While it used to be nothing but trees, today it’s known for being one of the fastest growing communities in Summerville. The reason The Ponds is one of the hot and upcoming neighborhoods is that it's a masterplan community with world-class amenities. Surrounded by protected woodlands, homeowners in this community enjoy walking trails, fishing, canoeing, zero-entry pools, picnic pavilions, and so much more. Location And Amenities The Ponds is located about 20 miles from downtown Charleston, 10 miles from downtown Summerville, and about 30 miles from Isle Of Palms Beach. Although you may feel tucked away from the city, The Ponds is located about 20 to 25 minutes from downtown Charleston. There, you can enjoy food, entertainment, and the history that the city has to offer. If you’re looking for something a bit closer, head on down to Summerville. Here you can do all the local shopping and hang out to your heart's desire. Home Prices Now that you have an idea of what it's like to live in The Ponds, you might want to know what it costs. The Ponds is built by one of America's top builders, D.R. Horton—unless you're looking for something in the 55+ community, which is built by Kolter Homes. Currently, a four-bedroom, four-bathroom home at 3,800 square feet will cost you about $660,000. A much smaller home in the Cresswind section of The Ponds with two bedrooms and two bathrooms will run you about $300,000, giving you about 1,400 square feet. Make The Ponds Your New Home So what do you think about The Ponds? I think you will love it here. It has a lot to offer, so make sure you check it out. Top 3 Charleston Neighborhoods To Consider

Are you thinking about moving to Charleston in 2022 but you're not sure where to live? In this episode of The North Chuck Hookup, I'm going to give you the best three neighborhoods to move to in Charleston in 2022. We'll talk about commutes, schools, and living in these top three areas so you can choose the best place to buy your new home. Most people who moved to Charleston can't live in a mansion downtown. These top three neighborhoods are places you can move to in Charleston and still experience Charleston living. Mount Pleasant The first neighborhood I want to tell you about is Mount Pleasant, located on the east side of the Charleston Harbor and the Wando River. One thing you have to understand about Mount Pleasant is the geography of the town. This neighborhood is split by a bridge called the Isle Of Palms Connector, which is locally called the IOP.  If you're on the south side of the IOP, you're about 7 miles from downtown Charleston. If you're on the north side, you’re about 11 miles from downtown Charleston. If you live on the south side of the IOP, you're about 15 minutes from the airport. At the furthest point on the north point, you're about 25 minutes from the airport. The average Mount Pleasant resident spends about 21 minutes commuting to and from work.  Mount Pleasant has been recognized for several years as one of the fastest-growing areas in the nation. A huge draw is due to its proximity to the beach and the fact that you can do a lot of waterfront dining. It also has some of the best schools in the area.  With all of these great features, it's going to cost you. On the south side, you can expect $1.1 million as the average sales price for a single-family home. On the north side, you're looking at about $900,000 for a single-family home. It costs to have all that great living and lifestyle.  West Ashley The next neighborhood we're going to focus on is West Ashley. This area is not actually a town but is a district within Charleston. It’s located about 5 minutes from downtown Charleston and about 9 minutes from the airport. West Ashley residents usually spend about 26 minutes commuting back and forth to work, while this area is also known for great schools.  What's unique about West Ashley is that you'll find it has a lot of lush greenery and marshes peppered throughout the state. In addition, you're going to find that West Ashley is also home to some very unique historic sites. This includes Drayton Hall, Ashley Hall, Middleton Plantation, and Charlestown Landing.  You will find that while West Ashley is home to a lot of big box retailers, there are plenty of small, eclectic shops. You’ll also find a lot of restaurants and dining areas. West Ashley is also 20 minutes from Folly Beach, a great plus for living in this area. Homes here are a little more budget-friendly in West Ashley, with a single-family home averaging $500,000.  Summerville Just 26 miles down the road from Charleston, you're going to find Summerville. This is an area that has experienced tremendous growth, and you'll find it’s more of a suburban place to live. Feeding the growth in Summerville is that employees of some of the biggest companies that have moved to the area live in Somerville.  This includes companies like Amazon, Google, Volvo, and Boeing. While the city has experienced tremendous growth, it still hasn't lost its southern charm. When you're walking downtown Summerville you may feel like you've landed in Mayberry, but you're still going to be able to get some of the best dining and shopping you can find in the area.  Summerville is home to some of the most sought-after schools in the area, making it a great choice for families. Also, the commutes aren't too bad, with Summerville commuters spending about 30 minutes to and from work each day. This is a very affordable area, as you'll find that single-family homes run about $365,000 on average. However, you have to accept the fact that you're going to be a little further from the beaches.  Make Charleston Your Home While these three areas are great, there are so many more areas to touch on in the Charleston area.
